Cooking by the Canal du Midi Enjoy a great one-day cookery course with lunch on the banks of the Canal du Midi.

Suitable for all levels of cooking

Join cookery school Cooking by the Canal du Midi for a delicious, fun-filled day of regional cooking and/or creating, followed by a fabulous lunch on the banks of the Canal du Midi. Classes are suitable for all levels of cooking skills and ideal for groups of friends, families with children and those with varying needs and dietary requirements. Classes have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people.

Courses take place mainly in English, with some French spoken. Non-cooking companions are welcome to join the group for lunch. Boaters and children are also welcome. The cookery school is committed to accessibility.

Regional Languedoc

Languedoc cooking is all about big flavours and hearty fare. In this class, you will create a buffet of 8-10 typical dishes from the region between you using local recipes and ingredients. There are plenty of jobs and food choices for everyone to enjoy. We share what we have made during a lunch on the terrace by the Canal du Midi.

Classic French

The Classic French class is a bit more formal than the regional Languedoc one. Classic French cuisine combines technique, precision and flavour, but it does not need to be daunting! In this class, you will learn how to prepare a classic French menu using the best regional ingredients.

Moroccan cooking

The amazing scents, colours and flavours of Morrocan cooking are easy to learn and suitable for anyone’s taste or dietary needs. In this class, you will learn to make quick and easy dishes full of flavour that are nevertheless sure to impress your friends and family, including traditional dishes such as tagine, pastilla, bread, couscous, salads and desserts.

Reservations and information

In addition to the above classses, Cooking by the Canal du Midi can put together custom-made classes for groups of up to 16 people (COVID-19 measures permitting). Wine tastings, cookery demonstrations… you name it!
