The Languedoc-Roussillon region has an average of 2,229 hours of sunshine a year – making it France’s second sunniest region after the Côte d’Azur (but at a fraction of the cost!). Pouzols-Minervois is a medieval village with about 500 inhabitants and 410 hectares of vineyards (138 winegrowers!). There is daily opportunity for tasting at the local wine merchant and wine cooperative.

Jeremy and Adrie met 25 years ago in Amsterdam and are got married in Somerset, UK, in June 2019. They divide their time between Pouzols-Minervois, London and Somerset.
"Jeremy worked at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange at the time," Adrie explains. "When he was transferred to London, we both moved there. Now he is retired and I continue to advise government and financial sector clients in the UK on how to create more engaging websites."

Both are open kitchens, so that you can continue to chat to your fellow guests throughout. The first floor living room also has its own dining table, sofas and large flatscreen television. It is decorated with vintage concert posters from the private collection of the legendary Dutch concert promoter Lou van Rees.
Amazing as it is to stay in a beautifully renovated 12th century fort, the real wow factor here is the roof terrace.
